a container of worms and 3 poles

Violet has been asking for days to go fishing, so we promised her after Lucy got home from school today we would go.  This afternoon Ray and Violet dug up worms for each of them in their bug jars.  Our pond no longer allows fishing, so we made a few calls and found what Shawn now calls our, "Honey Hole."  Within minutes of Violets line in, she had a fish.  The kids were screaming with excitement.  Minutes later Lucy caught one too.  We got Ray's pole ready, which Daddy brought home today for his first fishing trip, it is less than three feet long and was only $9.00 but within seconds that thing had a fish on it too, and it wasn't little!  Smallest pole caught the big ones!  Ray was so excited, it was awesome.  The kids continued to reel in fish, it was almost comical, Shawn and I couldn't keep up taking them off.  After an hour we had caught over a dozen fish, worms were gone and the queen of the lake ate Lucy's hook, so we called it a day.  What a refreshing unexpected nice family time, no cell phones(except when I took pictures,) no television and no fancy games...Just a container of worms and three fishing poles and our kids were beaming with happiness.  These are the moments :)

At one point Lucy said, "Right now, I am fishing with my Daddy."

holding hands

Hi Everyone!  I have not found time lately to blog, sorry.  Today I was looking back through the pictures on my phone from last weekend with the kids at Shawn's parents house and with a second look at this picture I had to post it.  If you look closely, they are all holding hands!  AND, it was not requested! Ray is 21 months now and sleeping through the night!! He has at the same time gotten ornery, maybe with all that good sleep he is rested enough to go at the day sweet and stubborn!  Violet is finishing her first year of pre-school and loving that it is finally warm enough to be outside every day digging for worms.  Lucy is 6 years old now! She is my mother hen, taking care of her sister and brother while doing anything extra she can to earn a sweet treat, the girl loves her desserts.  Shawn and I have been married 7 years this month, wow a lot has happened!  Hugs and love to you all.
