chicken with hilopites

Okay, I never blog recipes, but one of my fellow bloggers (TM) does, and I love it, so today I am sharing. This recipe comes from my sister, mom of FOUR that actually cooks amazing meals most nights, don't ask me how she does it.

Okay, for those of you without a greek background, hilopites are square noodles(see picture.)
Recipe:
Cook diced up onion in olive oil and cover with cinnamon(yep that's the key ingredient for your kids to gobble this up,) a lot of cinnamon. Place your chicken breasts on top of your onion and brown both sides. Remove from pan and put in crock pot with tomato sauce and some water, cook for hours. Close to dinner time, add your noodles, or you can boil your noodles on the stove and put them in just before serving.

DELICIOUS! Mine is in the crock pot as I type, now get cooking ladies and thanks Ju Ju Bee, I love your recipes!

sunday fun

Today was such a fun Sunday.... we started the day off with an attempt to go on a walk. A little ways down the street in 90 degree weather(at 10:30 a.m.) we changed plans, went back home and broke out the slip-n-slide! This was a first for Lucy and she loved it, go figure. Daddy was pushing her down the slide at a record speed for a two year old, but my little dare devil didn't blink, she just asked for more. After lunch and then naps for everyone we headed to the parade in our town. It was hot, but fun for Lucy! p.s. first pic is a video for those of you opening this in email form.

pony ride

Most of you that read my blog know that Lucy LOVES animals, but I have to tell you, she is usually all talk. Yes, my sweet girl always wants to see the animals, but she usually keeps her distance, well all that changed today. Our local ice cream stop had a petting zoo in the field behind it. I did not even take my camera, thinking we'd just be eating ice cream and watching the animals from a distance. Nope, not today, Lucy went right up to all the animals, she was petting the goat, brushing the donkey, feeding the donkey out of her HAND, giving the baby pigs water and the most surprising taking TWO pony rides, HAPPILY! It was SO great, except for the fact that it was 94 degrees outside. Anyway, hope everyone is well and staying cool!

more weekend pics...

Okay, as promised, here are some more pictures from our fun weekend. Friday we went to Traders Point Creamery. Lucy got to see cows and chickens running around, so she was thrilled. The place is cool, they make their own ice cream, cheese etc. and also have a restaurant where everything served is organic, mostly from their farm or others in town, the food was so good. The last pictures are a few more from Father's Day, Lucy got Shawn a snow cone maker, so we had snow cones Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m.!

father's day

Well, here he is....The WORLD'S GREATEST Dad, with his favorite girl and his favorite car! We have gone to this father's day car show every year since Lucy was born. Shawn especially loves seeing his "smokey and the bandit" every year, hoping it will end up in our third car garage somehow. So, I thought you'd all like to see the past three years....

LOVE IT! Hope all the Dad's out there had a great day. I will post more pics from our weekend and father's day tomorrow.

barn day

Lucy went to "barn day" at Conner Prairie with her friend Austin today, the girls loved the animals and the barn dance, so fun!

a booster meal

Dinner last night was delightful, not because of the food, because of the booster seat I bought! These are the kind of things mom's are suppose to be telling each other. We have been dealing with meals of twisting and turning, getting up and down etc. Well, last nights dinner with Lucy buckled to the chair was awesome, she sat still and ate her food until she was done...ahhhhhh. Maybe we are the only house that was without a booster, but if there are any more of you, please, go spend the twenty dollars today and enjoy your Friday night meal!

frog craft

Today Lucy made a frog puppet....well she glued the pieces on and mommy did the sewing, how cute is he? Not sure he'll last long, so I wanted to post a pic. I also made a blanket today for my new baby girl. I went to JoAnn's to get fabric to make a blanket for a shower I am going to Saturday. I ended up getting a yard for my girl and sewing it first, silly me, now I still don't have the blanket for Saturday done. Oh well, I will be sewing tonight watching Tori & Dean...doesn't that sound like bliss! Ahhhh.
Before all that, I will be taking Lucy to the town concert on the lawn, otherwise my two year old who has been up since 2:00 might go crazy and the house is already looking like a tornado, which makes mommy crazy. Let's hope the rain holds out and if anyone wants to meet us there, please do!

Her sister's lips...

We had a doctors appointment today(35 weeks this week,) all went great! They did an ultrasound and I wanted to post this 3D picture they took. If you look in the center, you will see that it looks like our sweet girl will have full lips, just like big sister Lucy! They also said she has hair, so funny to know!

strawberries...

We attempted to go to the strawberry farm with Grandma M. today, but the rain kept us from picking. It was not a total loss, in fact it was actually quite pleasant. The farm's store had a big porch with rocking chairs, so, we bought our strawberries and sat in the rainstorm on the porch under the tin roof relaxing. Lucy enjoyed some strawberries and some strawberry ice cream and mommy at 34 weeks pregnant was thrilled to be rocking instead of bending over in the fields picking. Ahhhhh, what a great Saturday.

daredevil

I feel like I have posted this picture before, I just can't resist....it reminds me so much of my sister growing up, she was always the daredevil, climbing and swinging. I always see so much of my sister in Lucy...makes me smile.

zoo fun

As some of you may have already guessed, I am trying to do a lot with Lucy before #1, my belly is too big for me to be on the go and #2, before I have to figure out how to take TWO kids with me. So...today we went to the zoo! It was an awesome trip, we got to do some things we have never done there. We fed a giraffe, Lucy was all talk until it came down to go time, then I actually had to be the one to hold the food out, it was awesome to be so close. Of course as we were walking away she asked to feed them again, so I reminded her that she chickened out on the first try. Our next adventure was the elephant bath, once again, so cool to be so close. Getting a bath today was Tombi, a 33 year old 8,000 pound African elephant! The funniest part was that when we walked up to the arena a little boy, Ethan(a little ladies man according to his mom,) asked Lucy if she would sit by him. Then Ethan asked if he could have his picture with Lucy and the elephant, it was too cute for words.
